Trapsing around San Francisco

This will have to be a quick post but hopefully the quantity of pictures will help to make up for it. Today we will be going on a 3 and a half hour drive out into the country. The children have lined up for us to have a tour of Organic Pastures dairy. WOW! I'm excited as I've read so many things about but I really must go now.

We spent yesterday morning in this area.

We found this neat national museum of old ships. This one was called the EUREKA which is my home town.

This is a water wheel from one of the grand, old ferries. Notice Robert in the lower right-hand corner.

This is on an old ship that hauled lots of wheat from California overseas. This is how the common sailors lived with 22 per room.

while the upper crust seamen lived like this.

That's my hand next to one link of the chain that held the anchor.

Here I am behind the wheel of the EUREKA.

This is the rigging on a ship called the Balclutha. It was massive and made us feel very insignificant.

We asked a fellow with different English from ours to take our picture on the upper deck of the Balclutha.

The Eureka from the deck of the Balclutha with the anchor of Balclutha in the foreground.
In the waiting room of the Eureka which was a ferryboat.

We tied knots on the way between looking at these great, old ships.

Robert looking at Alcatraz through a huge binoculars that he gave a quarter.

We may go on this later in the week but I can't be sure which one we're going to explore the Bay with.

This beauty is out on the front of the Balclutha which was built in Scotland.
Lots of people, including this cute, little fellow were feeding the gulls and doves. He was so cute!

Palm trees are everywhere over here. Also I was amazed at how many people were exercising.

A native North Dakota plant welcomed us as we parked the car. This is the wild prairie rose.

After we ate our lunch sitting on a bench by the marina, we made our way over to China town. We found this street on the map and couldn't resist going on THE CROOKEDEST STREET. It's so popular that there are police officers directing traffic up at the top.

We spent an hour in China Town. It was exactly one hour as it costs a quarter buys you exactly 5 minutes parking time. We had fun, though, and Robert bought me a lovely comb for my hair which was 90% off in a retirement sale. We noticed, though, that all of the jewelry stores along the way had all kinds of interesting sales too. HMMMMMMMMM I thought these children were very cute but I noticed that there was no price tag.

Lovely housing in San Francisco

Oops, this is a China Town picture. Most of the stores had cheap stuff for folks but there were several which were for the wealthy Asian residents of SF--like this one.
Robert bought a souvineer too.

Parking uphill near China Town.
Oh for joy--a streetcar.

The government district

Well, we're off for the dairy so I'll show you different types of pictures tonight. Please keep us in your prayers as we learn how to drive in the big city.
