Tomorrow is election day in America. I'm once again helping with the election as a Judge. My duties will be to initial each ballot; hand it to the voter; inform them to completely fill in the ovals by the name of the person they choose (even write-ins); give them a secrecy sleeve for their ballots; and point them to the voting booths.
It's not difficult work. It's not inspiring work but it IS important work. Helping to insure that the election is fair to everyone IS important.
The most important work, though, I've been doing for weeks. By encouraging everyone to vote, I am giving them a voice. "One vote doesn't matter," is sometimes used as an excuse for not taking the time to vote. Those who think that need to read "Horton Hears a Who!" EVERY VOTE MATTERS!!!!! YOUR vote matters!!!
Please keep the elections in your prayers! That is another way you can help your/our country to choose the best leaders. Please keep us poll workers in your prayers too! It gets to be a long day!
Lastly, I pray that people will pull together in our country and around the world. I pray that the peace the angels sang of on the night of Jesus's birth WILL become reality everywhere on this globe! What marvelous things can be accomplished when people work together for the well-being of all of us!!!
We all have our opinions on things. It's natural that there will be disagreements. However, when our hearts are set on peace, God WILL make a way for it to happen!! I'm thinking of a movie that I've never been able to forget.
This movie is called SILENT NIGHT and is a true story that occurred during WW2. Both sides met in a cabin in the woods on Christmas Eve. The blizzard outside forced them to make peace for just one night and lives were changed for the better!! It's an amazing movie and I urge you to watch it.
In the meantime, I pray for a peaceful election day tomorrow no matter who wins!! Even if the "Wrong person" wins, does that limit God from using that person to accomplish His purposes? NO!
Here's a poem to give us pause as we go to the polls. I pray that it blesses you as it did me.
For His kingdom to come on Earth,
Dawn
Pray For Election Day
Election Day is upon us
In America once more.
We will choose candidates
And vote as we have before.
What a responsibility!
For wisdom, we must pray
And make the right choices
As we vote on Election Day.
Please don't be indifferent
And say, "What'll be will be."
Try to make a Godly choice
For leaders for you and me.
Prayer makes a difference
In who wins each race,
So Christian, we must pray
And seek God's holy face.
In America once more.
We will choose candidates
And vote as we have before.
What a responsibility!
For wisdom, we must pray
And make the right choices
As we vote on Election Day.
Please don't be indifferent
And say, "What'll be will be."
Try to make a Godly choice
For leaders for you and me.
Prayer makes a difference
In who wins each race,
So Christian, we must pray
And seek God's holy face.
