Hello everyone,
I'm tired tonight after the weekend in Bismarck and seeing clients today. There is much that I want to say about the GOP convention this weekend but where could I start? Although others are enjoying the, "Say anything blog", I have found Allah comments there and other offensive things, but still anyone can say what they're thinking in that spot of cyberspace.
I just found this comment there which pretty much summarizes how the freedom fighters were treated by the establishment this past weekend at the Bismarck Civic Center. My own son was mocked by the district chair, so don't get me started. Perhaps this will be all that you want to hear about the 2 day "Roll over and play dead" treatment that we received there. If not, keep reading here or head on over to the, "Say anything blog", but you've been warned that I don't agree with everything they say there.
Sleep well. ;)
Dawn
These are not my words but certainly I agree with the thoughts presented.
I took advantage of the opportunity to sit in on the open meeting of the Resolutions Committee on Friday, March 30th for nearly 5 hours of discussion and debate.
The district's representatives went into great detail on each and everyone of the proposed resolutions, even to the point of possible single word ramifications. In short, they were very thorough and very detailed.
From what I could estimate, there were approximately 60 people in the room working in great detail to produce resolutions for the 2012 platform. One must remember that Stan Stein and the balance of the GOP hierarchy discounted the 2010 platform as not being relevant during the 2012 convention. One would have thought great emphasis then would be placed on the new and improved resolutions being the 2010 resolutions were proclaimed as inadequate.
As most of the delegates know, Mr. Stein stopped just short of calling the sponsors of the Candidate Pledge "Traitors", he just called them the "Breachers of Trust". I think these patriots now know how our founding fathers must have felt when the British attempted to derail freedom.
It is very disappointing at best that Mr. Stein, Mr. Poolman and the balance of the so called leadership made the decision to ignore the new proposed resolutions. Maybe they thought that the new and improved resolutions were just too conservative, or maybe they felt that holding candidates feet to the fire was too extreme.
There were several "Old Guard" buttons attached to the lapels of many of the former leaders of the party, but I did not observe any on the lapels of the present members of the leadership group. Maybe the buttons would have been just too obvious, but their actions were painfully obvious to all in attendance, especially to the new delegates that the "Old Guard" was running the show, and just you don't forget it ! ! !
It has become clear that when the leadership of the NDGOP makes the claim that all Republicans are welcome under the big tent, they do not mean in the command tent where the flap is closed to new potential leaders as well as to new ideas.
Mr. Stein was extremely rude and very disrespectful to any and all delegates who brought forward any motions which he disapproved of. In fact, he used every means possible that he had at his disposal to quell any attempts of fairness during the selection of the National Delegation. Many new delegates to the process wondered if this was the way that the GOP Leadership always does business, and sadly it is true.
Well Mr. Stein and Mr. Poolman, you have drawn the line in the sand. You have acknowledged by your actions that the North Dakota Republican Party is in your firm and unyielding grip. Well, I have news for you. I suggest that you hang on your hats as the wind of change will be bearing down on your arrogance. I also suggest that North Dakotans are tired of the tyrannical actions of the present leadership and that change is inevitable.
