Ever since we got back from the home school convention I have been feeling burdened to share what we learned there about the need for the parental right's amendment to be added to our country's Constitution. It was pretty heavy and discouraging, but we the people still have the power in this country!!! We just need to be informed about what is going on in order to do what needs to be done. What parent wouldn't want to protect their children?
Since then I've been receiving the updates from the website: parentalrights.org. I've been greatly encouraged to see that the list of cosponsors for the amendment is growing steadily. What do we need to do? Go to this site and read up on why this is so important. Check to see if your representative is a sponsor or not. If he/she is, then write and thank them for doing what is right. If not, then start hounding them. I just wrote another e-mail to mine and asked him to list the reasons for his name not being on the co-sponsor list. What is he anti-family or what? As bad as things are in this country, I think it's pretty safe to say that most of our congresspeople do NOT want to be thought of as being anti-family. Why it's un-American.
PLEASE TAKE THIS THREAT SERIOUSLY. Already some liberal judges in our country have ruled against parents as though the UN is running this country already. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
One family had their children taken away from them because one of the children thought that the parents took him to church "Too often". This was Sunday morning; Sunday night; and Wednesday night. I was raised going to church that often--even more if we were working on music. I guess I wasn't traumatized too much by being in the house of God that often, but we live in a world that hates God. The judge ruled with the child saying that once a week is enough church for anyone. The parents now know that, if they take their children to church more than once a week, they will have their children taken away from them. THIS IS SICK PEOPLE!!!!!
We must work together to ensure that children will be under the care of their parents and not some sick social worker or judge. "What if the parents are sick?" I can hear some brains asking. I ought to know--I lived under those conditions. Well, then a loving social worker should see to it that the children are put into loving foster homes. How many are there of them? No--that is not a good argument for taking children away from their parents for picky little things. The overwhelming majority of parents care about what happens to their children more than any social worker does. Believe me I know, I WAS a social worker.
So, I urge you to take a little time to get informed about this critical issue. Dr. Farris shared at the convention that there is not a lot of time for us to get the masses moving. This is being worked on right now. PLEASE PRAY ABOUT THIS!!!
This is the email I just received from parentalrights.org
Dawn
Saving Motherhood
This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day in the United States. If you are a mother, we thank you and salute you for the invaluable work you do in fulfilling that vital role in the life of your children, and the heritage of our nation!
Sadly, the United Nations would hold such a sentiment to be discriminatory against women. In 2000, the United Nations CEDAW Committee (named for the Convention to End All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW) criticized the nation of Belarus for “the reintroduction of such [sex-role stereotype] symbols as a Mother’s Day and a Mothers’ Award, which it sees as encouraging women’s traditional roles.” [See paragraph 361 on page 37 of the UN document here.]
For our part, ParentalRights.org is proud to encourage women in the role of mother, as we are proud of loving fathers for the part they play. The fact is, the role of parents in directing the upbringing and education of their children is a precious and fundamental right. It should not be looked down on, nor stolen, by international governing bodies such as the CEDAW Committee, nor the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), like CEDAW, is an international treaty attempting to dictate domestic policy. Like CEDAW, it has set up a panel of UN “experts” to “advise” nations who are not in compliance with the treaty, setting international law policy which activist judges then incorporate into national law.
Unlike CEDAW, however, the UNCRC does not oppose Mother’s Day. Rather, it constitutes an attack on Motherhood itself, replacing fundamental parental rights with bureaucratic oversight at a federal and international level. Perhaps if we ratified both treaties we could just replace Mother’s Day with Social Worker’s Day, and the UN would be pleased.
The only permanent solution to prevent U.S. ratification of the UNCRC is the Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which includes the provision that “No treaty may be adopted nor shall any source of international law be employed to supersede, modify, interpret, or apply to [fundamental parental rights].” This would finally end the threat of UNCRC ratification in the United States. While that alone may not preserve Mother’s Day, it can at least save Motherhood from international interference.
Please, as you value your own parents and your rights as parents to raise your own children, take a moment to forward this email to every mother you know – or even everyone who has a mother – and be sure to wish them “Happy Mother’s Day!” To sign the petition or to learn more about the dangers of the UNCRC or the need for the Parental Rights Amendment, visit us on the web at parentalrights.org.

Sympathy cards
WOW--we have been getting so many awesome sympathy cards from special people in our lives. One just came from my high school buddy, Richard and his wife, Kate. Then another one just came from a friend and BT client, Eunice. She printed out a poem that's short but very powerful. I thought that I'd share it with everyone. Thanks Eunice and thanks to all of you who have sent us your love in cards or flowers. :)
Love--author unknown
Love grows but stronger
When assailed,
Love conquers when all else
Has failed.
Love ever blesses those
That curse,
Love gives the better
For the worse.
Love unbinds others
By it's bonds,
Love pours forgiveness
From it's wounds.
Isn't that great? Then it says here that we need to put thoughts into our minds from God's word in order for this to become a reality in our lives. These are the passages that were shared to help with this. 1 Corinthians 13; Matthew 18; James 3; Colossians 3; 1 Peter 2; Ephesians 4; and Romans 12. I guess we all have some good food to feast on now. :)
Mexican flu
Dear friends,
I received this information on the day that my mom died. I had planned on writing a little something about it but have been wrapped up in trying to care for my dad this past week. Anyway, thank you Jonathan for posting this information. This young man really does his research, before he posts anything, so I have no doubt that this is a real concern. However I wish to offer my services to counteract any fears that may arise in hearts as a result of reading this.
The main thing to remember is that God knows about this and has everything under His control! My favorite verse to counteract MY tendency towards fear is 2Timothy 1:7. FOR GOD HATH NOT GIVEN US THE SPIRIT OF FEAR; BUT OF POWER; AND OF LOVE; AND OF A SOUND MIND.
Secondly, I have every confidence that BodyTalk sessions can minimize all the affects of ANY bug. The bodies that God has created for us are fearfully and wonderfully made!!! They fight off invaders constantly and have done so all of our lives. Now, there is a technique in BodyTalk called Body Chemistry which can help the body more effectively fight off invaders when stress has weakened the immune system. It's a very simple procedure but you have to know about it before you can use it, right?
Basically a person puts some saliva on a Q-tip or cotton ball and puts it into their navel. Our navels are constantly taking in information, like satellite dishes. Once the navel gets the sample, it sends the information it gathers to the brain. Our brains are so complex that they can take this information and arm the immune system with exactly what it needs to kill the bug. By tapping out the cortices, the immune system is stimulated to attack the bug. In the words of Elizabeth (my BT practitioner), "This is soooooooooo cool." People have been doing this for 10 years all around the world.
Recently, though, Dr. Veltheim made Body Chemistry even more effective when he discovered that bad bugs will mutate within 15 minutes and carry on the battle against us. So, he outsmarted them. Now we do what is called Body Chemistry Fast Aid which combines BC and Fast Aid. This is done by putting a fresh sample of saliva in the navel every 15 minutes. The Body Chemistry procedure is tapped out with a new sample every 15 minutes. In this way the body is able to monitor for mutants and kill them also. People are getting rid of bugs like this in 2 to 4 hours after the onset of the illness. If you wait until it's full blown, it may take up to 8 hours but the bug will die no matter how long it takes.
Now, I am willing to do this procedure on anyone who reads my blog for half price (which is $15). I am trying to get the word out there that we don't have to live in fear of bugs. I can do this from a distance as thoughts can travel anywhere in the world in seconds. The client would need to be willing to put a Q tip in their mouth; then stick it in their navel every 15 minutes until biofeedback reveals that the bug is dead.
My experience with this has been that the sooner the better. The shortest time that it took to get rid of a bug was 2 1/2 hours. The longest was 8 1/2 hours. So it takes a little time--big deal. The point is that the human body has the capability of repairing itself. Through BodyTalk we help it to re-establish the communication systems in the body which get compromised through stress.
So, if you know anyone who gets the flu bug, have them read this post. I will work them into my schedule for half price as I am trying to encourage people to read my blog to learn that there is a ray of hope out there in all the darkness. There is important information that I have learned that I am willing to share with people in an attempt to keep people from taking the flu shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will try to get some statistics from the International BodyTalk Association on the effectiveness of using this procedure worldwide against the bugs that threaten to kill or weaken us. The main thing to remember is that God has made us to be strong and healthy. This is our birthright from our Heavenly Father. We just need to learn how to work with these marvelous bodies that He has given to us to gain and maintain optimal health.
I cannot encourage everyone enough to take the next BodyTalk Access class as soon as possible. Elizabeth is teaching one in Bismarck again on June 21st but they are taught around the world. You can get dates and locations at the IBA website here:http://www.bodytalksystem.com/bodytalk/ This class costs $100 and takes you 8 hours. You will learn the 5 main techniques that people use most frequently in BodyTalk. Knowing and using this information saves the average family between 60% to 80% of their health care needs. THIS IS THE REAL THING FOLKS!!! What a blessing it is to me every time that Elizabeth tells me that somebody I love has taken her Access class!!! OH FOR JOY! Jacob wanted to take it in May so I took it again and learned new things. It's the best investment of $100 that a person could make in these days of uncertainty.
Love to all,

The Mexican Flu and You
In the past 24 hours I've received dozens of e-mails from SurvivalBlog readers about the emerging Mexican Flu. Some news stories have included cryptic comments from heath officials, implying that the mechanism of infection makes this particular virus "very difficult to contain." This leads me to conclude that those infected have a long latency period during which they are infectious, yet, they do not display frank symptoms. This does not bode well for any hopes of containing the spread of the virus.
Then we hear a CDC official stating: "The swine flu virus contains four different gene segments representing both North American swine and avian influenza, human flu and a Eurasian swine flu." That strikes we as something very peculiar.
The disease is respiratory, and has one strong similarity to the 1918 Spanish Flu: "The majority were young adults between 25 and 45 years old," said one official under the condition of anonymity. Since, young and healthy people with strong immune systems are the most likely to succumb, this might indicate that the biggest killer is a cytokene storm--a collapse caused by the human immune system's over-reaction to a pathogen.
I strongly recommend that everyone reading this take the time to re-read my background article on flu self-quarantine and other precautions: Protecting Your Family From an Influenza Pandemic. The details that I give there are quite important. Pay special attention to my discussion of the shortage of hospital ventilators. If anyone in your family is immunosuppressed, consider yourselves on alert. Make your final preparations to hunker down, immediately.
In the next few days, there is a good chance of wholesale panic, including some well-publicized "runs" --probably first for hand sanitizer and face masks, and soon after for bottled water and groceries. Plan on it.
UPDATE: The BBC News web page Mexico flu: Your experiences has some updates posted from individuals in Mexico City
To summarize, here are some key quotes from a recent article:
"This outbreak is particularly worrisome because deaths have happened in at least four different regions of Mexico, and because the victims have not been vulnerable infants and elderly."The most notorious flu pandemic, thought to have killed at least 40 million people worldwide in 1918-19, also first struck otherwise healthy young adults."..."But it may be too late to contain the outbreak, given how widespread the known cases are. If the confirmed deaths are the first signs of a pandemic, then cases are probably incubating around the world by now, said Dr. Michael Osterholm, a pandemic flu expert at the University of Minnesota."No vaccine specifically protects against swine flu, and it is unclear how much protection current human flu vaccines might offer."
Current statistics show a less than 10% lethality rate, but of course the first wave of flu victims are getting access to the best medical care available. If the contagion spreads, sheer numbers will quickly overwhelm hospital facilities--particularly the number of mechanical ventilators available. So the lethality rate may rise, even if there is not a viral mutation.
Here are the latest headlines on the flu, as well as some background pieces. I'll post more links, as they become available.

Dad
Well, we're home and dad is not with us. I never dreamed that I would have peace about leaving him down there, but I praise the Lord that it is so. I'm not certain if I could tolerate living with somebody who is that selfish. A friend said to me that suicide is the ultimate in selfishness and I think he's right. Well, here are the details of our day.
Robert was so tired this morning as he cleaned grain all day yesterday.
OH RATS. Things have changed here and I can see that I don't have time to do this justice. Still, I will summarize the day so as not to leave you all hanging about my dad. We took dad to church and then went out to the cemetery. Duard came when we got back to the house and we discussed dad coming home with us. Dad said that he wanted to stay at home and help Duard on the farm.
Duard told us privately that twice yesterday dad drove the tandem truck in the ditch at the intersections of country roads. Does he really need that kind of help?
Anyway, I told Duard that I want the opportunity to do BodyTalk sessions on dad and he agreed. I did a long session on dad, which he slept through, and afterwards he seemed more steady on his feet.
We took him to the play, which Sharel directed, and he even laughed a few times.
Somewhere in there I sat down with dad and told him that I do not EVER want to hear him talk about suicide ever again. I told him that it stresses me out when he does so. He looked at me with the strangest expression. I swear that he never saw me before in his life. He growled,
"Well, I guess I have to keep my thoughts to myself."
"If you're going to have thoughts like THAT, you do," I replied.
We sat and looked at each other like two old bears who meet over the same berry bush. Then we went and ate lunch. Is it any wonder that I got an eating disorder?
We saw Robert's folks for about an hour before we left Eureka. They want us to tear down their old building NOW and Robert said, "NO." Then we headed for home and discussed how selfish our parents are until I fell asleep.
Now chores are done and we are all together again. Cora just said that she made oatmeal so I'll warm it up and Andrew can tell us about his day of grain cleaning and we can tell the children about our trip to Eureka. I'm glad that I survived and I am soooooooooo glad that our home remains intact.

Suicide
PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR FAMILY. My brother, Duard, just called and BEGGED us to take dad up here for a few days or for a week. He said that dad is getting worse. I asked him, "In what way is he getting worse?" Duard said that dad just cries and cries and this morning he told Duard that he wants to kill himself.
Duard said, "We have got to get him out of that house."
Being there is nobody at Duard's house during the day, we are the most logical choice for a place to dump him.
I called Robert and he said that he will think about it. One thought he had is to tell my dad that, IF he wants to live, we will bring him here to help him--otherwise not.
This is all so crazy. Robert is trying to protect me from giving myself away to the point where my health falls apart again. I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to have him here where I can keep an eye on him--maybe give him some BodyTalk sessions that would help him to process mom's sudden death.
The only thing that dad likes to do is to watch tv and we don't even have one. OH HELP US TO KNOW YOUR WILL, DEAR LORD!!

Mom's funeral--part 1
Boy, am I ever hurting. When I have emotional pain, it transfers to physical pain in the neck and shoulders. This is where the shingles did their number on me in '06. I do think, though, that this pain is from having my head looking down most of the day yesterday. Still today, after 3 years, my head throbs if I look down too long (more than half an hour).
Well, my children are getting ready for chores now so I'll have to finish posting about the time at the house that night at another time. I also want to share about the special time with Duard at the cemetery but I don't want to rush through that so I'll save it for later. I also want to add a picture of my friend Pat but I'm out of time.
Cora and I spent most of the day yesterday writing out thank you cards to 1/3 of the people who came to mom's funeral. My brothers did the others but there were a LOT of them to do. We're not even sending them to people who only sent cards, which would have doubled them. We're just not the kind of people, though, who just sign, "From the family of Erdie Delzer." I was wondering what Sharel was doing--she's an English teacher in the school system. When she told me what she wrote, I was happy. She did a good job and Duard did too. Rick was going to write, "From the family of Erdie Delzer," but Duard straightened him out so hopefully everybody who helped us get through this week will be properly thanked.
Please bear with me if this isn't the best writing in the world. I just need to write so I'm not going to be proofreading as I go through here. I'll be using lots of pictures to help tell my story.
Well, Wednesday morning we got up early. This was hard as we got to bed late after going to Eureka on Tuesday for the prayer service and trying to keep the farm and grain cleaner going in spite of it. I woke again with the sickening thought, "My mother is dead." I had a hard time convincing myself that it was really true those first few days, so I said it over and over.
The second thought I had was, "I wonder if Russell will come today?" I'll just tell you right away--he did NOT come to the funeral. In fact, nobody has heard from him since Sharel chewed him out for yelling at dad the night mom died. He actually yelled at my dad a few hours after mom died. Boy, talk about somebody who REALLY needs BodyTalk.
We chased through chores; took our showers; then tried to get Jacob in some shoes. We learned just then that Jacob's good shoes were too small so Cora went up in the attic and dug out a pair of Andrew's that were too small for him. When Jacob put them on, we noticed that the soul of the shoes was loose. We glued it with super glue (no shoe goo here) and put rubber bands on them to set the glue on the way down. We prayed that the glue would hold, but it didn't.
We planned to eat lunch with dad at the house, but he had already eaten with my Uncle David and Aunt Frances (his sister) when we got there. He was sobbing something awful but I urged my family to eat knowing that it would be pretty busy at the church later. Duard was just going home to eat and dress when we came and he asked us to get dad dressed. We told dad that he needed to shave and that brought him back to reality. He actually did a good job of dressing up for the funeral as we ate our lunch. Praise the Lord for people who take food to the houses of those in mourning.
Our family took dad to the church to bury his wife. As we were helping him out of the van, I noticed that our pastor from Alfred, Pastor Steve Kyner, was already there. You have to imagine what a joy it was to see him--he is one of the most loving people in the world!!! Here is his picture with Robert and Andrew in the church basement. Pastor Kyle Reinhiller (my dad's pastor) said that he didn't mind if Steve prayed for us so he did. What a blessedness to have someone who loves you pray for you at a time like that.
Here is a picture of my dad with his sisters. Aunt Francis is seated and Aunt Dee is standing. Uncle David (seated) is my Aunt Francis's husband and Aunt Dee's husband is dead already. My sister-in-law, Sharel, is standing. Dad is still in shock.
Dad wanted Duard and Sharel to walk him in and sit with him--here they are off to the right. This was fine with me as I couldn't have dealt with him anyway. We sat in the second pew as a family. I had asked that the children could sit with us, even though they were pallbearers, as I needed them close. Jacob sat beside me and needed more comfort than he had thought he would need. Here is a picture of my mom's coffin in front of the church. They have nice-sized screens on the walls now where the words of the songs are posted. Scenes of nature are on them in between songs. It added a lot to the service.
Duard and Sharel's youngest son, Dylan, is a musician. He played a song on his guitar that he had arranged and it was just beautiful!!! His accompanist is the daughter of my accompanist from my singing days in Eureka. My friend's name is Pat and she came to the funeral. When I saw her, all sorrow ceased as I ran to my dear friend of long ago. What an embrace that was!! I'll show you a picture of her later--she's as beautiful as ever. The children now understand why their papa and mama speak so fondly of dear Pat Grenz. :) It looks as though Emily is going to be a fine pianist like her mama!
We were all stunned when we looked at this picture. I was trying to get a picture of the children and their cousins as they took the coffin out of the church but the batteries were slow and I missed them. At first I was bummed when I looked at this picture of the man's back from the funeral home. However, Cora and I saw something profound just as I was going to chuck the picture.
In the foyer of the church there hangs a mirror for the men. Countless times, as a girl, I watched a man pull his comb out of his pocket and quickly run it through his hair before he entered the sanctuary for church. Well, I was standing at the perfect angle to capture my dad's face in that mirror. Here is what my father looked like as he left the church to go bury his wife. He was a wreck.
Here the children and their cousins are receiving their instructions on how to best move the coffin from the hearse to the grave site. Rick's son, Benjamin, is standing by Andrew and Duard's oldest, Cody, is standing next to him. I'm not sure where Dylan is but Jacob is behind Cody.
Here my children and their cousins are carrying mom to her
final resting place. The people from Carlsen's funeral home were absolutely wonderful to work with.
Here Duard is helping dad to sit. Pastor Reinhiller is close to dad holding his Bible. He sang a beautiful solo at the graveside but I just can't recall what the name of it was. I was comforted.
This is my second family while I was growing up. Mrs. Guthmiller was my second mom and the 4 Guthmiller girls were the sisters that I never had. This is the 3rd oldest girl, Carol. She and her husband, Jeff, drove all the way from Watertown (a 3 hour drive) that morning for mom's funeral. Carol is a grandmother of 3 already--she looks great!! Carol told me that the oldest sister, Anna, was going to drive down from Grand Forks for mom's funeral but had to have surgery on her foot that morning. I told Carol that Anna had sent me an email packed full of love so she had found a way to be there after all. :) Isn't it wonderful how love will always find a way to express itself?
Well, my children are getting ready for chores now so I'll have to finish posting about the time at the house that night at another time. I also want to share about the special time with Duard at the cemetery but I don't want to rush through that so I'll save it for later. I also want to add a picture of my friend Pat but I'm out of time.
Today the boys and I are going to Eureka to deal with dad. I'm dreading it! Robert is cleaning grain and Cora is babysitting for Stacey so it's just the boys and I. First I'm going to take a private walk out to the mailbox to deposit all of the thank you cards that we worked so hard on yesterday. It's going to be hard today so I ask for your continued prayers. Please pray that I will have wisdom to talk to my dad about giving up this idea of death.
Yesterday on the phone he said, "I just want to die." I said to him, in a nice calm voice, "How would you feel if I said that?" He thought a little bit and said, "I guess it wouldn't be good." I'm going to tell him that, if he continues talking about death, I'm going to have to withdraw for the sake of my health. It'll be hard, but I MUST TAKE CARE OF ME TOO!!!!!!!!!
Love to all,
Dawn

Tried
I tried yesterday to write about the funeral but was just too wiped out. I did take the time to add pictures to the post about the family service and I added some comments there. We didn't even get started writing thank you cards as my brain just wouldn't go there. Instead I sought solace in my mom's best friend, Estella. We talked over an hour and she was such a blessing with her insights on how best to help my dad now. I also slept for 2 hours and then felt good enough to pick things up around here. I was glad that we still had food left over from the funeral.
Today we're going to write the cards out and prepare for Sabbath. I just learned that Robert is going to clean grain tomorrow which leaves me alone to go to Eureka and deal with dad. ): At the risk of sounding like my dad, I wonder why God chose the busiest time of the year to take my mom. I hope to have time and energy to share my thoughts about the funeral yet today but we'll see. Cora and Jacob have a few pictures from the funeral on their blogs if you don't want to wait for me to have time.
Did I say that my oldest brother never came? Estella told me that this will haunt him for the rest of his life--she has seen it in others. I prayed so hard that he would come, if only for his sake. I guess he's determined to play out his role in the family of black sheep. I wonder if he'll ever realize that God doesn't care about the color of the wool--He loves us all.
Please keep us in your prayers.
