Our niece died yesterday. She was fine in the morning and her husband came home to find her dead. She leaves her heart-broken husband and daughter plus 3 sisters and, of course, her parents. She leaves all of us who knew her generous nature and loved her deeply.

Services for Darby Jo Kallenberger, 36, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:30am, Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Pastor Ryan Gage officiating. Darby died Tuesday, September 11, at her home in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be 1:00-7:00pm, Tuesday, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
Darby Jo Bornemann, daughter of Peggy (Pfeiffer) and Barry Bornemann, was born on February 16, 1982, at the Eureka Community Hospital in Eureka, SD.
She attended the Eureka Public School, graduating with the EHS Class of 2000. She then attended Presentation College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. On July 2, 2005, she married Justin Kallenberger in Aberdeen. Together they have a daughter, Bailey Jo Kallenberger. They made their home in Aberdeen where she worked at Prairie Heights Healthcare formerly ManorCare Health Services since 2005, first as a nurse and later as a unit manager, until the time of her death.
Her favorite things to do were baking, gardening, listening to music, reading, playing games, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She was very active in Bailey’s school activities.
Grateful for having shared Darby’s life are her husband, Justin Kallenberger; daughter, Bailey Jo Kallenberger; parents, Barry and Peggy Bornemann; sisters: Tessa Ligon, Kylie Bornemann and Raine Bornemann; all of Aberdeen, grandmothers: Alice Pfeiffer, Aberdeen; and Marly Bornemann, Mandan; mother-in-law: Angie Kallenberger; brothers-in-law: Jeremy Kallenberger and Jason (Jennifer) Kallenberger; nieces and nephews: Kayleigh, Isaac, Avery, Mason, Cadin, Anari, Jacob, Jayden and Julia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding Darby in death are her grandfathers; Walter Pfeiffer and Earl Bornemann, father-in-law; Jerald Kallenberger and cousin Ann Renae.
